Service Engineer – Medical Equipment
A rare and rewarding opportunity to join a world leading company, working as a Service Engineer, responsible for the installation, service, retrofit and upgrading of complex electronic ophthalmic surgical equipment in Western Scotland and Ireland.
JOB TITLE: Field Service Engineer
AREA: Ireland and Western Scotland
SALARY: to c£40k + estate car, healthcare, pension etc….
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Technical Service Manager, you will be responsible for the installation, service, maintenance, retrofitting and upgrading of electronics-based ophthalmic surgical equipment, mostly laser-based, for the treatment of cataracts, retinal detachment and corrective eye surgery in Hospitals and medical Centres across Ireland and Western Scotland. 95% of your work will be routine service and upgrade work, with approximately 5% being break-down work.
You will have a background in medical engineering, preferably ophthalmic and/or lasers, backed up with a minimum of an HNC in Electronics and will be comfortable dealing with medical staff and working in the medical environment.
You will have a flexible attitude to work and be self-motivated and self-reliant, as you will be working mainly on your own at customer sites, where you will be required to adhere to the company’s values of integrity, commitment and respect.

KEY QUALITIES REQUIRED
Medical engineering background in ophthalmic diagnostics and/or refractive lasers.
Minimum HNC in Electronics.
A full UK driving License.
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
