CAD Design Engineer (3mth contract)

Based in Stoke on Trent, my client is looking for an experienced AutoCAD (2D and/or 3D) design engineer to work on projects from their growing order book. They provide systems into a variety of industries and need someone with a mechanical engineering background.

This is a 3 month contract to run through until Christmas 2011, and there is a possibility that this may become a permanent role in the new year (subject to budget approval).

Electronics Engineer - Aerospace

The role involves the technical responsibility for the electronic design and development of engine and airframe control products to meet the customer performance specification and business objectives.

The role also demands a high degree of self-management with good interpersonal skills and be capable of effectively interfacing with the customer
The Electronics Engineer has technical responsibility for assigned work packages, through his/her manager, to assure the electronic design meets its performance requirements through analysis and test, satisfying the appropriate airworthiness requirements. This will involve the co-ordination of specialist in the filed of EMC, components, thermal, vibration and material for design support, analysis and assurance testing of the product.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To ensure that production processes remain capable (quality, quantity, safety & cost) by maintaining systems and processes for example maintain BOM�s, Process routings, correlate CFM (Component Failure Mode) data, FMEA�s Control Plans etc.

To minimise waste and cost, you will have the skills required to select machining parameters, processes and tools to give optimum cycle times. This will be combined with intelligent tool ordering and fixture design, although you will be working with other members of the manufacturing team to develop the finished product, including development of the manufacturing procedures. The final production processes will most likely be deployed in �lights out� manufacturing, so knowledge of this is a necessity. Experience of working in a Lean Manufacturing environment and applying this knowledge to your programmes would be advantageous.

THE ROLE

You can expect to be away from home on a regular basis, sometimes for extended periods (up to two weeks) so you must be comfortable with travelling. When not working on site, you will be required to work in the Head Office and factory in the south of England.

THE ROLE

Responsibilities

3. Ensure contract financial requirements are adhered to within the time scales specified.
4. Monitor the supply of equipment and manufactured items to meet the specified time scales.
5. Appoint and monitor site subcontract labour to ensure installation requirements are achieved.
6. Provide timely, accurate and reliable quotations to customers in association with the Company's Field Sales Engineers and Sales Management.
7. Advise Field Sales Engineers of potential business arising from written and telephone enquiries.
8. Be able to work effectively without close supervision to achieve set objectives.
9. Liaise with clients and customers as well as with the Companies support services to co-ordinate the smooth progression of projects from order stage to final handover.

Experience
Ideally you will have experience from within the mechanical contracting services with specific reference to steam or high temperature process heating applications, although general contracting/Project Management experience from within the plant and process engineering field or related equipment is perfectly acceptable.

Qualifications
HNC/Degree in mechanical engineering and/or good related experience in a comparable engineering environment.

Communication Skills
The ability to work within a team environment and to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels within the Company structure and with our customers and suppliers using concise reports and quotations when required.

THE ROLE

Ideally you will have a welding/fabrication background, possibly in pressure vessels or other fabrications with high QA requirements. Along with this, you will have:

1 the ability to read and understand drawings related to welded fabrications
2 be able to deal with all levels of engineering queries/questions relating to drawings/specifications from both in-house shop floor right up to up to clients personnel.
3 knowledge of ASME 8 and 9 along with the demonstrable ability to develop related welding procedures.
4 client and third party inspection liaison skills are required along with the ability to make a critical appraisal of their requirements
5 experience in managing the requirements of an ISO9000 QA system is a must-have.
6 knowledge of stainless steel/nickel alloys would be advantageous.
7 knowledge of manual arc welding processes would be beneficial.

You will report directly to the Operations Director and you will be responsible for the shop floor Quality Control Inspector. You will work with the Commercial Manager on quotations, the Shop floor on specifications, the Works Manager on production scheduling and all departments re ISO 9000, so excellent communications skills are required for this position. You will also be required to liaise with clients and third-party inspectors to ensure that the equipment meets or exceeds all contractual and legislatory requirements.

As the current Contracts Manager is due to retire within the next 2 years, you will enjoy the benefits of a substantial hand-over period, allowing you time to acclimatise to this exciting role.

THE ROLE
Reporting to the Technical Service Manager, and after a period of on-the-job training and support, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, performance of retrofits and upgrades on the companies surgical and office based equipment. Ultimately you will have the ability to carry out routine preventative maintenance on instruments and train customers on operational aspects of the instruments.

Initially office based, with dedicated service/maintenance training support provided internally and externally, you will also receive training by shadowing senior Field Service Engineers in the field. Once all of the training is complete, you will:

* Provide telephone technical support to resolve customer problems.
* Arrange visits to customer sites whenever necessary.
* Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI), installations, repairs, perform retrofits and upgrades.
* Carry out routine preventative maintenance visits on contract instruments.
* Test repaired instruments in all operating modes, and demonstrate that repaired instruments operate to the companies specifications.
* Consult with local and international colleagues on chronic or unusual problems.
* Provide cover for other Field Engineers when necessary
* Once fully trained, to be able to train customers on all operational aspects of the instruments.

You will have a background in medical electronics, with a minimum of an ONC qualification and will be comfortable dealing with medical staff and working in the medical environment. A background in opthalmics and a degree in electronics or bio-medical engineering is preferred, though not essential.

During training, you will not have a designated territory, but once fully-trained and competent you will be expected to provide cover for other engineers when they are busy or on leave etc. so you must be willing to travel nationally and there may be overnight stays from time to time.

You will have a flexible attitude to work and be self-motivated and self-reliant, with excellent time-management skills and be comfortable in front of customers, where you will be required to adhere to the company's values of integrity, commitment and respect.

THE ROLE

Responsible for all service and installation activities world wide from the company Head Office.
-This includes project management of installations, answering technical queries, dealing with complaints, and arranging sales visits in response to specific requests
-The activities of all service personnel, both those in permanent employment and independent engineers.
-Responsible for recruitment of service personnel and their day to day management via internal resources
-Demonstration of equipment
-Project management of new applications and individual equipment
-Operating within budget constraints approved in advance by the Sales Director
-Reporting on the performance of the Service Department
-All agreements, contracts and tender documents

-Analysis of markets and territories for the service business

Typically, the role is office based.

Field Service Engineer

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join one of the leading manufacturers of UPS systems, from 500VA for comms racks to 800kVA for entire buildings.

JOB TITLE: Field Service Engineer � UPS Systems

THE ROLE

Due to an expanding order book, our client is now looking for another field Service Engineer to join their team of around 30 staff. They are looking for someone based in the M4 corridor area, for example in or around Swindon, and someone who does not mind staying away from home a couple of nights midweek and working overtime and at weekends. The right candidate must be self motivated and able to work alone or part of a team.

You will travel around a specified area of the country, either on your own or with another member of the team visiting client premises. This may be to install, which includes moving batteries, commission, service or repair the UPS systems. This may also involve overnight stays, which will be organised and paid for by the company.

You will also be required to work a number of Saturdays or Sundays, as a lot of installation, commissioning and maintenance work is completed out of hours due to the demands of the client.

The batteries are changed every five years, so a degree of physical fitness is required to lift and move these batteries. Initially, your product training will be carried out at the Head Office with a view to going to Italy for further training with the parent company; you will then spend time in the field training and 'shadowing' an experienced Field Service Engineer.

Following the initial training process, you will be 'On-Call' on a 24 hour basis for one week for which there is an additional payment on top of your basic salary. If you are actually called out while 'on-call' outside of the normal working hours, you will be paid at the overtime rate.

Previous experience with battery chargers/UPS systems or AC/DC equipment is essential
BTEC or ONC / HNC in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.

An exciting and rare opportunity to join a well-established company, working as a Service Engineer for a manufacturer of furnace components, providing field service support on new and exisiting specialised vacuum furnaces used in the production of carbon based products to customers across the UK.

THE ROLE
The successful applicant should have the following capabilities: -
* Working knowledge of temperature control instrumentation such as Eurotherm and Honeywell), invertors, PLC's and HMIs.
* Experience with Allen Bradley (Siemens) PLC programme.
* Fault finding and regular maintenance functions of mechanical assemblies, drives, pumps etc.
* Familiar with pneumatic, water and hydraulic systems and their functions.
* Familiar with Microsoft Office programmes.
* Knowledge of vacuum technology would be an advantage.

You must have the ability to work on your own initiative and should be from a multi-skilled background, covering electrical, mechanical and control systems, although you will primarily be a fully time served / qualified electrical technician with specialist knowledge of Allan Bradley PLC and temperature controls systems such as Eurotherm and Honeywell. An appreciation of SCADA based systems would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given.

Over and above a sound knowledge of instrumentation, there is a requirement to work with induction melting furnaces and power supplies operating at 500 volts and up to 1000Kw, although an HT qualification is not required.

Solid mechanical skills are also required, as you will be working on complex vacuum equipment where a working knowledge on pumps, leak detectors and leak detection equipment / systems would a distinct advantage, though again product training will be provided for the successful applicant.

From its manufacturing base in Scotland and with warehousing facilities in the states, it is able to provide comprehensive product support. As part of a larger group, they have been able to invest in the latest production machinery and have recently re-located to larger premises to better meet the continuing sales growth they are experiencing. Due to this growth, they have decided to strengthen their Service Team and are now looking for an experienced and knowledgeable electrical engineer to fill this well-rewarded position.

KEY QUALITIES REQUIRED
Proven electrical background
Excellent working knowledge of PLC systems, especially temperature control
An understanding of vacuum technology
Full UK Driving Licence

THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to be responsible for the installation, commissioning and testing of a range of Food Processing Machinery including:

" Slicing Machinery
" Sawing Machinery
" Check Weighing Equipment
" Shaping Machinery
" Labeling Equipment

The company is looking for three engineers, one to cover the M62 corridor, one to cover Norfolk and one to cover the Midlands.
Duties will include:

" Installation, commissioning and testing, including modifications or adjustments which may be necessary to ensure complete customer satisfaction
" On site personnel training in equipment function, operation, maintenance and sanitation.
" Repair and maintenance of equipment to include mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control system elements
" Close liaisons between Service Technicians and Senior Service Technicians.
" Occasional overseas visits to key clients.
" Reporting, paperwork, accounts, stock control and re-ordering

You must have experience servicing any type of food processing machinery. Experience with PLCs is also a must as well as having a good understanding of computers. Excellent customer service skills are essential.
